listening to: Everything Is Everything by Lauren Hill
haha. timing's finally right. thanks yingx!
-yawns- had footy training today, and am super tired despite having slept for..3 hours. haha. played pretty badly today, got turned in and out by dillon. am currently struggling to find any sort of form, and i got pretty frustrated. but i guess i've learnt how to control my temper alot more now.
i guess the daryl of old would ranted, rammed and run aimlessly today, out of frustration. but i've learnt to joke about my temper and my bad form these days. less shouting, more control. i don't know if that's the reason im becoming so lousy, you know, the controlled shouting having made me a less agressive player and thus a less effective player. i do suppose there's a fine balance between having controlled agression and being over agressive. but i can't find the right mix. a little less agression makes me too subdued, too much makes me flare up and lose control of myself. so i guess i'll keep mix and matching till i get the right mixture.
a whole lot of people asked me why i picked the number 6 on my jersey. and so i tell them it's because it's the number of bobby moore. and they go, "who?" so i'll like to take some time to talk about mr bobby moore, an inspiration of mine.
bobby moore was born on april the 14th, 1941. he made his england youth team debut at the tender age of 16, against holland, and would eventually captain the side to the runner-up postion in the european youth championships. following this, he signed a professional contract with west ham united in may 58, and made his debut in the same year, on september the 8th, against manchester united, and won that match 3-2.
as bobby's career went on, he gradually moved up the england ladder, making his debut for the under 23s, then his england debut on may 20th, 1962 against peru. and 12 caps later, he captained england for the first time, incidentally on may 20th, 1963 against the czechoslovakia.
1964 saw bobby moore pick up the footballer of the year award, after leading the west ham team to FA cup glory, 3-2 against preston north end. this gave bobby and the team a chance to play in the european cup winners' cup in 1965, which they duly won, 2-0 against 1860 munich of germany.
1966 came and with it, the world cup in england. bobby almost never got a chance to play, but eventually signed a 1 month contract with allowed him to participate. england won all but one of their group matches, and procceded to beat argentina and then portugal before meeting west germany in the final. that was england's finest hour, as they beat west germany 4-2 in extra-time, with moore assisting two of the four english goals. as bobby moore went to recieve he trophy first up, he saw that the queen was wearing white gloves, and in a a gentlemanly act rarely seen in modern football, procceded to wipe his muddy hands before shaking the queen's hand. bobby won the player of players honour in that world cup, a crowning honour for a true giant of the game.
okay. i have to end.will continue tomorrow. toodles, take care and see you.
