damn dave grohl's face just says it all. this is why i love this track (other than its catchy melody) - the sincere storytelling ability of dave grohl. it really sounds like he's pouring his damn heart out.

for me, it's honesty, passion, belief and being sincere that makes music unique and beautiful. take dashboard confessional, for example, chris carrabba's songs all sound sincere. his story telling ability must be one of the best in the industry. how one can muster up so much emotion in front of a rowdy crowd is amazing.

these values transcend genres.

by the way, what is genre anyway, i really dislike that word. surely it makes music easier to organize (actually does it really make it easier to organize music), but trying to fit music into categories just encourages people to adopt a mindset, where they place labels on music without even listening to it.

for example, how many people just dismiss emo-rock for being overly whiney. or techno as dance music. or rock, as just pure hard rock.

where would you place simple plan? pop-punk? rock? surely its too tame for traditional rock (think guns n roses), and it does not conform to the 'anti-establishment' nature of punk bands (think green day and american idiot).

YEAH OKAY, i know im ranting aimlessly. i just need to talk.

hmm let me add that i really admire dave grohl, what an amazingly talented man. vocalist and guitarist of foo fighters, ex-drummer of nirvana (correct me if im wrong). incredibly talented.

since im ranting, i might as well touch on the topic of kanye west's tirade against the bush administration. i don't really know if the bush govt is 'dragging their feet' (to quote west) intentionally since new orleans is a black area. i mean, kanye is black, it may just be over-reading into the situation.

however, it is true, and incredibly shocking, to see how the remaining superpower in the world is unable to handle its own crisis. okay, not exactly its 'own' crisis- to say that would be disgutingly short-sighted and ignorant- but you know what i mean. response is slow and inadequate.

let's just view kanye west as a frustrated american, instead of a frustrated african american.

some factions of the public really disagree with kanye west's outburst. i just think, maybe, just maybe, the united states needed that outcry. someone to stand up and shout "look, there is a problem here that needs to be address urgently, before more people die"

on the other hand, (and this is unfortunately, the more likely eventual effect of such outbursts) this is be nothing more than a slight blip- it will be forgotten, faded away and will fail to bring about anything more than a momentary pause for thought and reflection.
