listening to: 99 Problems by Jay-Z
okay screw the last post..for now. im terribly bored.
the transfer window is open again for football. always an interesting time, with all the rumours (think owen with every single big club in the world), transfers (park ji-sung to man utd!) and the failed transfers (err..think ronaldinho a couple years back).
lets start with barcelona. why barca? well personally i think they made some really good transfers during the off-season.
barcelona have signed van bommel and another striker/midfielder, santi ezquerro. its pretty obvious they are trying to beef up their midfield, which has been pretty thin in terms of quality back-ups: remember they had a problem last season when their starters were injured.
and contracts, such messy things to iron out, have been settled as well. contracts of several key players, for example deco and giuly have been extended. most important contract extension? samuel eto'o. extension till 2010 shows he's not interested in chelsea's money. interesting to note though, a contract extension for the 35 years old henrik larsson. a gamble on the part of barcelona.
one notable sale for barcelona: juan riquelme to vilarreal. riquelme has starred for argentina in the confederations' cup this off season. 7-10 million dollars and 25% of the future transfer fee. pretty good move, i guess. he was, after all, on loan during the whole of barca's title winning season.
rijkaard has bought well this summer.
one last thing, one to watch for the next season: lionel messi. the toast of argentina after playing such a pivotal role in their under 20 youth championship win over brazil.
okay time to stop. one tree hill has disrupted my blogging mood. goodnight all.
